 How does MARTA work? 

    Using MARTA has never been easier with the new Breeze Card.  The
    reusable cards are sold at kiosks in each station. 

2. What can I do in Atlanta? 

   Atlanta is truly a city with something for everybody.  See our 
   50 Fun Things to See and Do page for a wide variety of ideas.  One great 
   way to see the city is Atlanta CityPass.  With this book of vouchers, you 
   can see six of Atlanta's top attractions for $64.

3. Where is the best place to shop? 

    Atlanta offers everything the savvy shopper could want, from luxury
    boutiques to outlet malls.  Visit our shopping page for all your retail needs.

4. Why is it called Underground Atlanta? 
   
    Atlanta began as a railroad town.  The original zero mile marker for the
    line between Atlanta and Chattanooga is located at Underground Atlanta.
    The city grew around the railroad, taking advantage of the viaducts built
    over the tracks to accommodate automobile traffic. Now Underground
    Atlanta features great shopping, restaurants and nightlife at Kenny's Alley.

5. Where can I see historic houses? 

    Atlanta boasts beautiful historic homes.  Take a drive around in-town
    neighborhoods such as Inman Park and Midtown to see some great
    examples of Victorian architecture. The Swan House and           
    Tullie Smith Farm are located at the Atlanta History Center in Buckhead. 
    Tours are included with general admission.  Or visit the
    Margaret Mitchell House, the birthplace of Gone with the Wind.

6. Where is the Martin Luther King Jr. National Historic Site? 

    The Martin Luther King Jr. National Historic Site is located at 449 Auburn
    Avenue, Atlanta, GA 30312. The site features educational exhibits and 
    includes Dr. King's birth home and Ebenezer Baptist Church, where 
    he preached. The King Center, which includes Dr. and Mrs. King's tombs,
    is near the site.

7. Where is a Civil War Museum? 

    Atlanta has lots to offer the history buff.  The Atlanta Cyclorama houses
    the world's largest painting, featuring the Battle of Atlanta. The
    Southern Museum of Civil War and Locomotive History is in Kennesaw, 30
    minutes north of Atlanta. The Atlanta History Center can also help direct
    you around notable landmarks and sites in the city.

8. Where else can I visit in Georgia? 

    Georgia is a wonderful state to see, from the mountains to the coast.
    Visit www.georgia.org for more information about all there is to see and
    do.

9. Where can I find antiques?

    Chamblee Antique Row has a variety of antique shops and fun
    restaurants.  Bennett Street Design District has antiques and art, and is
    conveniently located in the heart of Buckhead.

10. What are the special events for this weekend?
   
     For all the latest events news, please see our calendar. There you will  
     see a complete listing of festivals, theater happenings, restaurant events,
     museum exhibits and anything else you may want to see during your trip.

11. Is downtown Atlanta safe?
   
    The city of Atlanta has taken measures to make sure the downtown area
    is safe.  Atlanta has an Ambassador Force, with friendly, uniformed staff
    available to assist you with directions, escort you to your car, and make
    sure your time in Downtown is as safe and enjoyable as possible.

12. What can I see downtown in a couple of hours?

    
    Many Atlanta attractions can be seen in a short amount of time.
    The Georgia Aquarium, a tour of CNN, New World of Coca Cola
    and Centennial Olympic Park are all good choices that are walking
    distance to each other.  Zoo Atlanta, Oakland Cemetery, and the
    Georgia State Capitol are also great options.

 13.  What can I do for free?
   
    There are lots of great free things to do in Atlanta. Visit historic
    Oakland Cemetery or take a walk through scenic
    Centennial Olympic Park.  For a comprehensive of free or inexpensive

14. Is there a flat rate downtown for taxis?
   
    Yes. Flat rate to any destination in the convention zone is $5.00 for the
    first person, $1.00 each additional. Trip Smarter offers a list of Atlanta taxi
    services and rates.

15. Where can I have Southern food?

    You can find all types of cuisine on our restaurant listings page. Some
    southern favorites are Mary Mac's Tea Room in Midtown and Paschal's in
    Castleberry Hill.

16. Where can I go for dinner and dancing?

    Atlanta has excellent cuisine and restaurants with world-renowned chefs.
    Please see our dining page to search restaurants.  Atlanta also has an
    exciting nightlife scene, with live music venues and dance clubs. To find

17. What can I do with my children?
   
    Atlanta is a very family-friendly city. Many of our
    50 Fun Things to See and Do are appropriate for children.
    Imagine It! The Children's Museum of Atlanta, near Centennial Olympic
    Park, is one particular favorite among children.

18. Which hotels are pet friendly?  Where can I board my dog?
   
    Many of Atlanta's hotels are pet friendly. You may see a list here.

19. Where are the plantations?

    Stone Mountain Park has a wonderful plantation with nineteen historically
    restored and decorated buildings. The Smith Plantation is in historic
    Roswell, half an hour north of Atlanta.  Its original 
    farmhouse and outbuildings are still intact.  Stately Oaks, a Greek-revival
    antebellum home, is located in Jonesboro, about half an hour south of
    Atlanta.

    Atlanta is host to a wide variety of arts, music, and cultural festivals. For
